By reducing the stigma around substance use disorder, we set the foundation for recovery in our communities.
Ripples of Recovery is a stigma-reduction campaign educating those in our rural, tribal, and frontier communities about the resources available to overcome addiction and support those in the recovery process. Our mission is to foster resilience through proper language and essential resources to those affected by addiction and substance use disorder.
Addiction, also known as substance use disorder (SUD), is a complex and multifaceted condition that affects millions of individuals nationwide. The health condition alters one’s brain chemistry to compulsively seek and use substances.
It’s important to understand that addiction is not a weakness or a moral failing. Addiction can impact anyone regardless of age, gender, race, or background. Addiction is a health condition that requires compassion, understanding, and effective treatment.
Strategy 1
Understanding the challenges and feelings of others is crucial in addressing the barriers of addiction recovery. By approaching addiction with empathy and compassion, we can remove the judgment that those struggling with addiction feel when opening up about their journey and seeking support.
Strategy 2
Raising awareness empowers communities to recognize the signs of addiction and equips them with the tools they need to offer proper support. Awareness combats misinformation and the judgment that results from it.
Strategy 3
We offer many resources and support networks to provide a safe and inclusive environment for individuals in recovery and their loved ones, reducing isolation and promoting healing.
